My Microblading Experience
After much contemplation, questions and inquiries, I finally decided to get microblading, thanks to @HerCampus and @BetterBrowsNYC. You guys DMed me tons of questions about my visit so thought I'd do a quick post. If you didn't know, microblading (also called micropigmentation or microstroking) is the art of semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo using a very thin and small blade. I got tatted, yall ! It's recommended for those who want to "fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps, or fill-in over plucked brows," whether you have thin or sparse eyebrows.
The Process: It takes about 3 hours for the first session, which includes consultation of the brow of your dreams, designing and constructing the brow and color selection, numbing and, finally, alternating between microblading and pigmentation; the follow up session is to retouch any gaps, which is usually done between 4-12 weeks after the initial appointment.
Did it hurt? Pain tolerance is dependent upon the person. Personally, I never got threaded or waxed so I can't truly say how these experiences compare. As Kendra, founder of Better Brows NYC, eased me through the procedure and explained every step of the way, I was reassured and as calm as I can be. I will say that it's not entirely painless however, the numbing cream helps a lot and by the time I got out the office, I didn't feel much but a tender brow. The following days, my brows were so fierce and bold (scabbing process), I loved it ! I barely saw redness or felt any pain or itch whatsoever, just had to make sure they didn't get wet.
